Consult, Jess!

I’ve been a writing consultant since 2010. Over the years, this has involved tutoring writers, coaching writers through their projects, managing writing projects, and training writing tutors.

I started as an undergraduate writing tutor in 2010 before working as a graduate assistant in a writing center while pursuing my MA. I spent two years working as the Associate Director of a University writing center, and in that time, I supervised undergraduate and graduate writing consultants, collaborated with other academic departments on writing initiatives, and advised students and instructors on writing projects.

I occasionally work with writers to plan longer writing projects: we work together to develop a writing plan, and we set project and editing checkpoints. Since this can be a substantive service, rates vary depending on the length and style of project, as well as what each writer wants from the consultations.
